Anomalous Propagation is a phenomenon that occurs in certain atmospheric conditions, such as temperature inversion, where radio waves are bent to the ground. It is comparable to a Fata Morgana optical effect. Anomalous Propagation causes false returns to the radar and subsequently on the radar screens, if not processed properly.
Intersoft Electronics’ Slow Clutter Cancellation (SCC) technique was designed to eliminate very slow moving AP-induced clutter signals from weather images, or radar target signals, without affecting real weather or target detection. SCC is an integral part of Intersoft Electronics’ Next Generation Signal Processor (NGSP®) platform and has successfully been implemented on dozens of radar systems world wide.
